Experience & Expertise
A Local Source for Your Next Aquarium Fish
Idaho Tropical Fish is a home-based breeding operation serving freshwater aquarium hobbyists in Meridian, Boise, and nearby Treasure Valley communities. Richard raises Angelfish and African Cichlids in an approximately 70-tank setup supported by an automated water-change system.

Instead of choosing from a shipment that arrived at a store, you can learn about fish raised locally, ask what is currently available, and plan pickup directly with the breeder. Visits and pickups are by appointment only.

Know More About the Fish Before You Buy
Buying directly from a breeder gives you access to information that can be hard to find on a generic store label. You can ask about the fish’s present size, the water in which it was raised, feeding routine, and other details that may help you prepare.
01.
Local pickup avoids the extended box and transit time associated with shipping fish across the country.
02.
Direct communication makes it easier to confirm current availability before making plans.
03.
Size-based pricing gives hobbyists options as fish progress through grow-out stages.
Local origin does not eliminate the need for proper quarantine, water testing, or acclimation. Every aquarium is different, and responsible preparation still matters.
Inside the Meridian Hatchery
What began as an aquarium hobby grew into a dedicated breeding facility with approximately 70 tanks. An automated water-change system helps Richard manage the setup consistently while he focuses on breeding and raising Angelfish and African Cichlids.

The website will feature real photos of the fish and facility so buyers can see the operation behind the stock list. Because the hatchery is located at a private residence, the exact address is shared only after an appointment is confirmed.
